Whole Person Impairment

A percentage estimating how much a permanent injury affects the body as a whole, not just the injured part.

Whole Person Impairment (WPI) expresses the effect of an impairment on the entire body as a single percentage. Regional impairments (for example, of an arm or the spine) are converted to a whole person basis so that multiple impairments can be combined and compared on a common scale.
