Guidance: Section 16.2 Amputations describes the process of assessing impairment due to amputations and Section 16.2c Amputation Impairment: Digital Levels (442 – 445) is used to assess finger amputation. If thumb amputation, determine impairment per Figure 16-4 Digit Impairment Percent for Thumb Amputation at Various Levels (443). If amputation of another digit, determine impairment per Figure 16-5 Digit Impairment Percent for Finger Amputation at Various Levels (443). Combined with any proximal deficits, such as motion loss. The impairment converts via Table 16-1 (438) to hand impairment, via Table 16-2 (439) to upper extremity impairment and Table 16-3 (439) to whole person permanent impairment.
