A spinal rating method that measures lost joint or spinal movement compared to normal.
The Range of Motion (ROM) method rates impairment by measuring how far a joint or the spine can move relative to normal values and quantifying the loss. For the spine it is used in specific situations, such as multilevel involvement, alteration of motion segment integrity at multiple levels, or recurrent radiculopathy. Where both DRE and ROM apply, the evaluator awards the higher rating.
