The Diagnosis-Related Estimates (DRE) method rates spinal impairment by sorting the injury into one of several categories based on diagnosis, clinical findings, and objective evidence. It is the preferred spinal method in the AMA Guides Fifth Edition for most injuries with a clearly identifiable cause.
