Services > Impairment Review

Review an existing Permanent Impairment report to determine if Permanent Impairment Rating is correct, assess other critical issues and have a full supportable explanatory report. We highly recommend the review of all impairment rating reports.

Our reports are used for several purposes including case management, evidence, feedback to the original rating physician, negotiation, cross-examination preparation, and as a determinate in defining case reserve or settlement value. Our clients report that most physicians agree with our expert assessment, will amend their reports, and appreciate the feedback. (Click here for a letter you can use for forwarding our critiques to the original rating physician.)  This is an extremely cost-effective and widely used service by insurers and attorneys.

We have a uniquely designed review process which results in each case being reviewed by highly skilled medical professionals. First, the case is reviewed by an experienced claims professional who is a Certified Impairment Rater; second, the case is reviewed by one of our consultative physicians providing a medical and Guides rating perspective; and third, the final report is completed by a senior level reviewer, either Craig Uejo, MD, Christopher R. Brigham, MD or another senior level physician with nationally recognized expertise. The resulting report is then reviewed for quality assurance prior to being sent to the client. This process results in a very thorough evaluation and a detailed, supportable and persuasive report. Highly skilled physician expertise is absolutely essential in understanding the clinical issues and appropriately applying Guides criteria; without this physician component a rating review has minimal value. Every case is carefully reviewed by a physician who is a Certified Impairment Rater, a Certified Independent Medical Examiner, and has years of experience in the use of the AMA Guides.

Our clients also have the option of a non-physician review by a Certified Impairment Rater. This is a lower cost solution to handling erroneous impairment ratings. Our non-physician experts are highly specialized in the field of impairment with qualifications as Certified Impairment Raters. They have reviewed hundreds of impairment ratings and offer their expertise as trainers in the field of impairment. Non-physician impairment reviews still provide our clients with a high quality, comprehensive review addressing the issue of impairment; however, the fee for this service is capped at $495 and does not involve physician expertise.

Our timeframe is 5 working days for most reviews although complex or lengthy cases may require additional time. Rush reviews are available in less than 5 working days at additional fee.
